My priorities

I am personally doorbelling every neighborhood in Bellevue and we have reached over 30,000 voters so far. I have connected with businesses and neighborhoods from Lake Hills to Lochleven, Bridle Trails to Somerset, Enatai to Tam O'Shanter.

At the doorstep I keep hearing our neighbors are concerned about becoming more like Seattle. We have rising crime, increasing traffic, and less public input. When elected to City Council, I will work to keep Bellevue a great and beautiful city, protect our residents and keep them moving! I always strive to make connections that make a difference, that’s why I’m looking forward to hearing from you about how we can make Bellevue an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.

Thank you for your support!

Betsi

PUBLIC SAFETY

People in Bellevue deserve to feel safe in their homes, neighborhoods, parks, workplaces, shopping and entertainment, and on the streets.  The Bellevue Police Department deserves the full support of City Council.  From merchants to neighbors, people in Bellevue need to feel protected against violators of the public trust.

That is why Betsi has been endorsed by the Bellevue Police Officer’s Guild. She supports the Community Policing promoted by Bellevue's protectors, and using resources to actively identify violators that threaten the essence of Bellevue's trusting community.  In addition to full funding of Community Policing, Betsi supports the Bellevue Police Foundation and the Bellevue Fire Foundation.  With her work as a Police Advisory member for Latinos and Latinas, Betsi continuously strives to understand the constraints and powers of the Police and first responders and ensure that their efforts support the people of Bellevue.

Prior to voting with the majority, Betsi’s opponent questioned the rationale of police security at light rail facilities and having social workers (CCAT) partner with the police to address mental health calls and crises, demonstrating her opponent’s lack of support for our safety.

HOUSING

An influx of 70,000 jobs and need for 35,000 more housing units is predicted for Bellevue. Betsi will work to ensure the majority of the housing growth is in the growth corridors.  Betsi will work closely with Neighborhoods and Planners to ensure neighborhoods retain their character and that any growth is with full consideration by the neighbors.  Betsi has been involved through the EBCC and Planning and Transportation Commission meetings to ensure the housing needs of diverse incomes and cultures is honored.

Betsi strongly supports the existing Council’s decision to remain separate from the King County Regional Homeless Authority. While at recent public forums, Betsi's opponent pushed for Bellevue to join The King County Regional Homeless Authority, going against the previous decision to maintain Bellevue's independence in housing and homeless matters.

TRAFFIC

The growth projected for Bellevue can be accomplished with aggressive attention to traffic patterns of residents in incoming workers and shoppers.  Betsi supported the retention of congestion reduction in the 2021 revision of the Transportation Element of the Comprehensive Plan; EBCC was able to approve its passage because City Council included Congestion Relief in the final draft.  Ensuring that Bellevue has its fair share of transit and that bike and pedestrian traffic is commensurate with individual vehicles will be a major emphasis. People in Bellevue deserve dependable road infrastructure.

Conversations Betsi has had during door-knocking clearly confirm that traffic has significantly worsened during her opponent's time in office while Betsi will work to improve the commute times for all of Bellevue.

NEIGHBORHOODS & COMMUNITIES

As Bellevue grows into a regional powerhouse, Betsi supports keeping the new growth in our growth corridor, and for neighborhoods to retain their character. Betsi reaches out to neighborhoods to make sure residents are aware of proposed changes at City Hall, and the impacts they may have on their neighborhoods. Betsi will continually work with Bellevue businesses, residents and our neighborhoods to keep Bellevue a great place to live, work, and raise families.

Betsi remains dedicated to staying closely connected with our neighborhoods, whereas her opponent is often tied up with her regional coalitions and her demanding position at the Port of Seattle.

Betsi is Bellevue, see the numbers for yourself.
