Betsi Hummer to run for Bellevue City Council 2023

BELLEVUE, WA – Former Chair of the East Bellevue Community Council and neighborhood advocate, Betsi Hummer, announced her candidacy today for the Bellevue City Council.
“Growing up, graduating from Bellevue High School, and making my life in Bellevue, I know first-hand how great this city is and can be,” said Hummer. “As a lifelong resident, I will maintain and improve upon the things that make Bellevue a great city, and always look for ways to champion the priorities that matter to those who call Bellevue home.”
Betsi said her priorities on the City Council would focus on reining in crime, protecting neighborhood autonomy, keeping our streets and traffic moving, and making sure that all of Bellevue is engaged in the decision-making process of future development and growth.
“I love Bellevue, and I’m excited about making an impactful contribution to our wonderful city,” said Hummer. “After serving three terms on the East Bellevue Community Council, including 4 years as Chair, I look forward to further engaging residents and fighting for the issues people in Bellevue care about.”
Betsi has been active in her community for the last two decades, serving on the Police Advisory Council, the Community Police Academy, and the Lake Hills Neighborhood Association. She is looking forward to bringing her skill set to the Council.
“Making connections that make a difference is my passion,” said Betsi. “Serving on the City Council, I want to be that conduit between the residents and the council, making sure that the people’s voices are heard in the decision-making process. I think it is imperative that our residents feel included. I believe that’s what makes Bellevue so special.”
Betsi Hummer and her family have made their home in the Lake Hills neighborhood of Bellevue, where she and her husband raised their four children.
